Kate Middleton has gone into labour with her third child.

The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St Mary's Hospital in London alongside Prince William on Monday morning, according to Kensington Palace.

The Duke and Duchess' first two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, were born in the same hospital.

Kensington Palace revealed Middleton's pregnancy last September. The announcement was made earlier than planned because the duchess had to cancel a planned engagement due to morning sickness.

When born, the Cambridges' third child will be fifth in line to the throne, bumping Prince Harry to sixth place. The baby's gender and name are not yet known.

The Duchess carried out her last royal engagement in late March before going on maternity leave. She maintained a light workload for a several weeks after her last two children were born.

Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed their third child, a baby boy, into the world Monday morning.

The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth at the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in London, UK, Kensington Palace announced on Twitter.

As early as last week, royal superfans began arriving in droves and camping outside the Lindo Wing in the hopes of spotting William and Kate. Workers also built a media pen across the street from the Wing to contain members of the press, who snapped pictures and videos from behind a fence.

This is the busy scene that's greeting ordinary couples when they leave the Lindo Wing on Monday after having their babies.

In one delightful photo, captured by freelance photographer Henry Nicholls for Reuters, a new mom and dad can be seen carrying their baby on the steps outside the Wing.

While they look a bit caught off-guard — as anyone would be in their shoes — the two smile from ear-to-ear while another photographer takes a picture of them. The young family is also flanked on both sides by police officers, who were likely stationed there for Will and Kate's protection.

In another picture, taken by photographer Kirsty Wigglesworth for Associated Press, a couple poses happily with their newborn baby.

All in all, the chaotic scene is probably far from what these couples had in mind when they planned to give birth at the Lindo Wing. But they're keeping their composure and grace while facing hundreds of flashing cameras. And thanks to these pictures, they'll have a great story to tell their children one day.

Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed a new baby boy on Monday, and bets are on as to what he will be named.

Royal expert Victoria Arbiter told INSIDER that while there's no set protocol for naming royal babies, the royal family is very traditional, and will probably look to the family tree for inspiration.

"With this baby there's a little bit more freedom, because this baby is that much more removed from ever being a possible king or queen, but I still think they'll stay close to home," she said.

They've already paid tribute to loved ones in naming Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Prince George's full name is George Alexander Louis: "George" for the Queen's father King George VI, and "Alexander" for the Queen's middle name (Alexandra).

For his younger sister, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, "Charlotte" is a feminization of "Charles" for Prince Charles as well as Pippa Middleton's middle name, "Elizabeth" is after Queen Elizabeth, and "Diana" is in memory of Prince William's mother, Princess Diana.

So what names are left for them to use?

If they had had a girl, "Alice" and "Eleanor" would have been likely choices.

"It's possible we'll see 'Alice' for a girl, as Alice was Prince Phillip's mother and I think they would like to pay tribute to Prince Phillip in some way, so Alice is definitely a possibility for a girl," said Arbiter. "[Another possibility is] 'Eleanor,' after Eleanor of Aquitaine, who was an incredibly strong historic figure, a strong woman, so that's got good connotations to it."

Since they had a boy,"James,""Albert," and "Arthur" are strong contenders.

"'James' is after Kate's brother, and there were also two kings of Scotland named James," said Arbiter. "'Albert' is a possibility; that was George VI's real first name, and Queen Victoria's husband was an Albert. But I think Albert is still a little old-fashioned, so my guess would more likely go towards 'Arthur,' which is Prince William's middle name. And, course, the legends of King Arthur have a wonderful mystique around them."

Whatever name they choose, they'll want to balance tradition with baby naming trends.

"You want a traditional name, but you don't want your kid to be tortured in school for having a silly name," said Arbiter. "I think they'll take all of that in mind."

Vogue reported that, while advocating for a mental health campaign, Prince William said that he and his wife want their children "to grow up feeling able to talk about their emotions and feelings."

The Duke of Cambridge appeared to be struggling to stay awake during a service at Westminster Abbey on Wednesday, just two days after his third child was born — and it suggests the new royal might be keeping him up.

His wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, gave birth to a baby boy weighing 8lbs, 7oz at 11.01 a.m. on Monday April 23 at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London.

Two days later Prince William attended an Anzac Day service to honour New Zealand and Australia's war dead at Westminster Abbey along with his brother Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

But he looked pretty sleepy during the service.

His brow was furrowed at times, and he appeared to be battling against heavy eyelids.

At some points he even looked like he was stifling a yawn.

Despite his tired appearance, Prince William confirmed that Kate and the baby are "very well thanks,"according to the Daily Mail. He added that they are "in good form, luckily. Sleeping's going reasonably well so far, so he's behaving himself which is good news."

He even managed to joke about the anticipation building around the announcement of the baby's name.

When Alexander Downer, Australia’s High Commissioner to the UK, suggested his own name for the young prince, William replied: "Funny you should say that. It's a good name," according to The Telegraph.

Meanwhile Sir Jerry Mateparae, New Zealand High Commissioner to the UK, reportedly said to the Duke: "Jerry would like it to be Jerry."

"It's a strong name, I have to say," the Prince replied.

The cost of raising a princess and two princes is a bit heir-raising.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a combined net worth of $50 million— a portion of which will be spent on bringing Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and their third child, a son named Louis Arthur Charles, to adulthood. 

CNN reports that the cost of raising one child to age 21 in the UK is $323,000. In London specifically, that number increases to $354,000. With three children, that's a total cost of more than $1 million — and that's not counting private school or university tuition, which can tack on an additional $200,000 per child.

For the royal family, that number is much higher — they'll pay at least $1 million for Prince George alone, according to one estimate. Add in his siblings, and that number could easily exceed $3 million.

Here are a few of the costs they're likely to incur while raising three royal children:

• Education: $19,492 tuition for Princess Charlotte's nursery school, $240,767 for Prince George's attendance through year eight at Thomas's Battersea in London, $55,772 tuition per year if Prince George attends Eton College like his father
• Nannies: a minimum of between $36,493 and $58,552 for nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, but most likely more
• Clothing and Feeding: at least $200,000 per child, and $514.10 for Prince George's uniform with optional accessories
• Maternity Care: a minimum of $24,910 for baby delivery at the Lindo Wing, $2,109 for antenatal care, and $25,500 for gynecologist consultations (all figures are totals based on the cost of all three royal babies)
• Baby gear: $75 for one christening shawl used for all the royal children, at least $480 for infant carriers, a minimum of $4,000 for strollers and accessories, and at least $6,000 for three nurseries

But it is a Windsor family name. Louis Mountbatten, Earl Mountbatten of Burma, was the uncle of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and also the queen's second cousin. He was killed in a 1979 bombing.

Arthur was the middle name of Queen Elizabeth's father King George VI, and also the name of the legendary medieval king. And Charles is, of course, the name of Prince William's father — as well as two previous English kings.

Prince George, whose first name comes from Queen Elizabeth's father, King George VI, shares the middle name Louis with his baby brother, as well as the middle name Alexander, a masculine version of his great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth's, middle name.

Princess Charlotte gets her first name from two places: It's her aunt Pippa Middleton's middle name, and it's the feminine version of her grandfather, Prince Charles', first name. Her middle names, Elizabeth and Diana, have straightforward sources: her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth, and her late grandmother Princess Diana, Prince William's mother.

Though several people had Albert pegged as the most likely name, Louis is a surprisingly common name in the royal family. It's the name of Prince Philip's uncle Lord Louis Mountbatten, and is one of both William and his son Prince George's middle names.

There's nothing cheap about a royal wedding.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to be married on May 19 at St. George's Chapel, in Windsor, and will begin a carriage procession immediately after the ceremony. Their reception will take place later on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Security costs to protect the bride and groom, the rest of the royal family, VIP guests, and thousands of onlookers will run Kensington Palace a whopping $43 million (£30 million), estimates Bride Book. That includes the cost of snipers, undercover police, military technology, and security drones.

The bulk of Kate Middleton and Prince William's 2011 wedding budget similarly went to security costs, but their total wedding tab came in at $34 million (£23.7 million) — about $10 million below the expected cost of this month's wedding.

Markle and Prince Harry's wedding will cost a total of $45.8 million (£32 million), according to Bride Book's estimation.

Kensington Palace will cover the cost of the wedding, an expense traditionally taken on by the bride's family. The case was the same for Middleton and Prince William's wedding — the only item Middleton paid for was her six-figure Alexander McQueen wedding dress. Markle will reportedly do the same, and may even design a custom tiara that's worth nearly $700,000.

After security costs, Markle and Prince Harry's total wedding spend, including food, cakes, entertainment, wardrobe, and the honeymoon, amounts to about $2.8 million. Here's where most of the wedding budget will be spent, according to Bride Book:

Within its grounds are a host of separate properties, ranging from relatively humble cottages, to a grand 20-room apartment occupied by Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their young family.

Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis: Apartment 1A

William, Kate, and their children are not only the largest group of royals in Kensington Palace but the closest to the throne.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, they have the best rooms going. The family of five occupies Apartment 1A, a collection of 20 stately rooms with a commanding view of Hyde Park.

They moved to Kensington Palace full time in October 2013, not long after their first child, Prince George, was born. Princess Charlotte followed in 2015, and Prince Louis in April 2018.

The public rarely get to see inside, but photographers were allowed to take photos of a reception room when William and Kate hosted the Obamas in 2016:

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: Nottingham Cottage

Significantly less grand is the two-bed cottage inhabited by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which will also be their marital home after they marry on May 19.

The cottage, nicknamed "Nott Cott" and often described as "snug," has been Harry's home since 2013.

Meghan moved in just after their engagement was made public in November 2017. Harry proposed to Meghan when they were spending an evening together at Nottingham Cottage, surprising her while they were roasting a chicken.

The newest royals at Kensington Palace are Princess Eugenie, who is William's and Harry's cousin, and her fiancé, Jack Brooksbank, a London socialite.

According to The Sun, the couple moved into a cottage right next to Harry and Meghan's about the same time Kate was in hospital delivering Prince Louis.

The couple announced their engagement in January, a few weeks after getting engaged while vacationing in Nicaragua.

They are getting married at Windsor Castle in the same church as Harry and Meghan this October, but the occasion is likely to attract much less publicity.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester: Apartment 1

The Duke of Gloucester, one of Queen Elizabeth II's cousins, lives in Apartment 1 with the Duchess of Gloucester, his wife.

Like William and Kate's home at 1A, the dwelling is a large complex of rooms in the main palace building. The two used to be one enormous set of rooms until they were divided in the 1950s.

The complex has 21 rooms, slightly pipping the size of William and Kate's, but few details are available other than its overall size.

Prince and Princess Michael of Kent: Apartment 10

Prince Michael of Kent, another of the queen's cousins but from a more junior line, lives in the main palace building with his wife.

She is known as Princess Michael in the old-fashioned tradition by which the wives of princes take their husband's name.

This same rule means that Kate can technically be referred to as Princess William of Cambridge, but the name is not widely used.

Their apartment, No. 10, consists of five bedrooms and five receptions rooms. They used to have use of the property rent-free, but since 2008 they have been paying a reported£10,000 ($13,600) per month in rent.

The Duke and Duchess of Kent: Wren House

The Duke of Kent, Prince Michael's older brother, also lives in the Kensington Palace grounds with his wife, the Duchess.

Their home, Wren House, is named after the famous British architect Christopher Wren, who built St Paul's Cathedral and several properties for the royal household.

Few details about their home have ever been made public. It is physically between Ivy and Nottingham cottages and appears to be of a similar size.

What about the queen?

Queen Elizabeth II lives at Buckingham Palace with her husband, Prince Philip. It's about 2 miles from Kensington Palace, across Hyde Park and Green Park.

It's not quite as cosy as living on the same property, but if Her Majesty ever wants to drop in on her cousins, grandchildren or great-grandchildren, they aren't far away.

The royal family tree of Britain's monarchy is quite a thing to behold.

King George V, the first monarch from Britain's House of Windsor, and his wife Mary of Teck had six children. Four of those offspring proceeded to have kids of their own.

As a result, well-known royals like 4-year-old Prince George of Cambridge and his younger siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have tons and tons of less-famous cousins.

The House of Windsor is a relatively young dynasty — it will turn 101 years old on July 17. King George V, a grandson of Queen Victoria, inherited the throne in 1910. Like his father King Edward VII, he was a member of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. The German dynasty was injected into the British monarchy by Albert, Prince Consort, the husband of Queen Victoria.

But by 1917, English attitudes towards Germany had soured considerably, thanks to the First World War.

In response to rising anti-German sentiments, George V decided to make a considerable PR move. He swapped out Saxe-Coburg and Gotha for the far more English-sounding name of Windsor. The royal family's website said the new name was inspired by Windsor Castle — where George V's granddaughter Queen Elizabeth II still resides on weekends.

King George V was the first monarch of the House of Windsor

King George V and his wife Mary of Teck had six children together between 1894 and 1905. One of their children didn't survive into adulthood. Prince John, the baby of the family, had severe epilepsy and a learning disability. He died in 1919 at the age of 13.

Their eldest son, King Edward VIII, inherited the throne upon his father's death in 1936. Had he remained king, Edward VIII's hypothetical descendants would have inherited the British Crown.

But Edward VIII abdicated in 1937 in order to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson. The controversial couple — who were rumored to harbor Nazi sympathies— never had children.

King George VI's descendants dominate the current line of succession

After his older brother's abdication, King George VI took to the throne for a reign of nearly 15 years. He and his wife Queen Elizabeth had two daughters, Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret.

George VI's descendants are set to continue to inherit the throne in the foreseeable future. His eldest daughter Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning British monarch in history. Her son Charles, Prince of Wales, is reportedly set to succeed her when she turns 95 in 2021.

The Lascelles family is descended from King George V's only daughter

Mary, Princess Royal, was George V's only daughter.

She had two sons with her husband, Henry Lascelles, 6th Earl of Harewood. The princess's sons went on to produce six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren. The Earldom of Harewood is still held within the Lascelles family.

The eldest two children of David Lascelles, the current 8th Earl of Harewood, were born before Lascelles married his first wife. They were therefore unable to inherit his title.

Leo Cyrus Anthony Lascelles, the only son of Alexander Lascelles, Viscount Lascelles, is also not eligible to inherit his family's royal title, as his parents were not married at the time of his birth.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal wedding got a surprising shake-up in the past few days.

On Monday, TMZ reported that Meghan's father Thomas Markle would no longer be attending the ceremony. The 73-year-old told TMZ he had a heart attack six days prior, though the site wrote that "fallout" over staged paparazzi photos was the real cause of his absence.

Now Meghan has confirmed via a statement from Kensington Palace that Thomas will no longer be attending the wedding.

The drama has left everyone wondering: Now that Thomas is out, who will end up walking Meghan down the aisle? Express has reported the latest betting odds from bookies at Betfair, and the results are slightly surprising.

The most popular guess at the moment is Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland.

Kensington Palace previously announced that Ragland would accompany Meghan on the car ride to Windsor Castle, so it would make sense that she may also accompany her down the aisle straight after. Ragland is currently the bookies favorite with odds of 6/4.

Meghan and her mother appear to be very close, and Ragland even accompanied Meghan and Harry for the Invictus Games closing ceremony in September 2017. Ragland is reportedly already in the UK, so she may be on-hand to prepare for her potential new duties.

People are also betting that Meghan will walk herself down the aisle.

Though it would be unprecedented, this option is currently the second favorite with odds of 5/1. Meghan has already put her personal touch on royal protocol, and this would be a powerful way to make her mark as an independent, modern member of the royal family.

Her future brother-in-law Prince William is also in the running.

William is currently serving as Harry's best man, so he'd have to be doing double-duty if this ends up being the case. However, Meghan appears to have spent more time with him than any other male member of the royal family — except Harry, of course — as they have attended several events together.

People also noted that there actually is a precedent for this, as Princess Margaret had her brother-in-law Prince Philip walk her down the aisle in 1960 since her father King George VI had passed away. William currently has odds of 14/1.

Harry's father Prince Charles could also fill the role.

If Meghan wants to stick with the tradition of having an older male figure walk her down the aisle, Prince Charles would be the best fit when it comes to Harry's family. He has no official role in the wedding so far, and has also expressed his excitement towards Meghan joining the family, so he also seems likely to step in with odds of 14/1.

Surprisingly, Meghan's "Suits" co-stars are also popular favorites.

Meghan has reportedly invited several of her fellow "Suits" stars to celebrate the wedding, and some people think one of them may nab the job of walking her down the aisle. So far Gabriel Macht and her on-screen husband Patrick J. Adams are tied with odds of 14/1.

Some people think Prince Philip is a slight possibility.

Considering his recent hip replacement surgery in April, this seems like a less likely option. However, the 96-year-old was seen attending the Windsor Horse Show in early May, so he may be recovered enough to make an appearance at the wedding. He currently has odds of 20/1.

Kate Middleton is the least popular option, but perhaps the most interesting.

Many comparisons have been drawn between the two, from their fashion sense to their royal relationships, and having Middleton accompany her down the aisle could be an interesting show of solidarity between the future sisters-in-law. Middleton currently has odds of 100/1, so people don't seem to find this scenario highly likely, especially considering she just gave birth a few weeks ago.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are unlike any royal couple that came before them.

You can tell that right away by watching their first public interview after they announced their engagement.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana often looked tense during their 1981 interview, and Prince William and Kate Middleton barely touched at all when they gave their interview in 2010. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, on the other hand, held hands, giggled, and gazed lovingly into each other's eyes.

One potential reason for these differences is that Prince Charles and Prince William are much higher in the line of succession to the English throne than Harry, who can act less formally knowing he's further removed from one day being king.

We took a look at what body language experts have said about the three engagement interviews, and what each couple's nonverbal cues might convey about their relationship.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana got engaged in 1981. Diana was 19 and Charles was 32.

They had only met each other 13 times when Prince Charles proposed.

During their engagement interview, Prince Charles and Princess Diana showed different facial expressions, body language expert Robin Kermode told The Express. "Charles looks assured while Diana often looks sadder when she is listening — her lips and mouth are held together, here eyebrows lifted and her cheeks pushed forward with watery eyes."

When Prince Harry arrived at his wedding to Meghan Markle on Saturday morning, many noted that he opted to wear a full Blues and Royals military uniform rather than a tux or suit. 

The decision was reportedly an important one to Harry, as ABC noted on air that his military service is something that holds a special place in his heart. The Telegraph further noted that he'd wear it as a sign of respect to the regiment of Marines in which he served. He served in the Army for 10 years, taking two tours in Afghanistan and rising to the rank of captain. He left the service in 2015.

Harry asked for special permission from the Queen to wear the uniform, according to the Independent.

Prince William also wore the ceremonial Marine uniform, serving as Harry's best man. He served from 2006-2013 with the Royal Air Force often performing search and rescue duties.

After Saturday's showstopping royal wedding, Kensington Palace released the official portraits of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. 

Photographer Alexi Lubomirski's black and white shot of the newlyweds cuddling on the steps outside is drastically different than Prince William and Kate Middleton's formal portrait in the palace, both standing upright with her hand placed delicately over his.

Because William and Middleton are future monarchs, they have to maintain a more formal appearance — for example, they rarely show public displays of affection. Harry is sixth in line for the throne, so he and Markle have more freedom to be casual and affectionate.

Their engagement photos, taken by the same photographer, were also intimate portraits in black and white.

In William and Kate's group portrait with their families, everyone stood up straight aside from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, who sat in chairs.

Harry and Markle's portrait with their families featured members of their bridal party sitting criss-cross applesauce on the floor, with Princess Charlotte in her mother's lap.

Both couples' group portraits with their bridesmaids and page boys were more on the casual side given the age of the participants.

Markle, though, sat on the floor and leaned into Harry, as opposed to Middleton's more upright pose on the steps.

It's one of many ways that Harry and Meghan's wedding was more modern than past royal weddings, a reflection of how their relationship is different than William and Middleton's.
